2024-04-11T07:52+10:00

A 22-man Australian Boomers squad has been named for the Paris Olympics.

The extended squad includes 10 NBA players and will be cut further before the pre-Olympics camp in July.

The key omission from the squad is Ben Simmons, with the Brooklyn Nets forward unavailable after having back surgery last month.

Staples of the team Patty Mills, Joe Ingles, Jock Landale, Josh Giddey and Dante Exum have been named while fellow NBA players Josh Green, Duop Reath, Dyson Daniels, Mattise Thybulle and Jack White are also in the squad.

10 NBL players have also been named while 19-year-old college star and NBA hopeful Johnny Furphy, who plays for the Kansas Jayhawks, has also been picked for the first time.

The Boomers won bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and have been drawn in Group A for Paris alongside Canada and another team yet to be determined.
