Port Adelaide great Travis Boak has named the teammate he’s most admired across his 349-game career for the Power.
While Boak has played with some of the club’s greatest ever from 2006 to the present day, there’s one teammate who stands above the rest in terms of what he could do on the footy field and that’s Robbie Gray.
Boak and Gray played 257 games together and the veteran says he marvelled at what his retired teammate could do on a footy field.
“This one is probably an easy answer for me,” Boak said on SEN Breakfast.
“I don’t know if I’m a little bit biased, but Robbie Gray has always been my favourite Port Adelaide player for sure.
“I absolutely marvelled at what he was able to do in his career. In a Showdown he kicked four or five goals in a quarter, he could just turn a game on its head.
“He could basically bounce the footy like it was a basketball and just pull out goals that you’d think were impossible.
“He’s certainly one that’s been my favourite player to play with.
“Then modern day now, Zak Butters, Jason Horne-Francis and Ollie Wines are up there as well.”
Gray and Boak played in 134 wins across their 257 games together. Boak has only played more games alongside one other Power teammate, Justin Westhoff.
Boak plays game 350 against Richmond at the MCG on Sunday. He is the first Port Adelaide player in their AFL history to reach the feat.
