Tigers and Power forced to make key changes for Sunday clash

2024-03-22T14:32+11:00

UPDATE

Port Adelaide has since confirmed that Jason Horne-Francis will miss the Round 2 match against Richmond.

The former No.1 draft pick has a hamstring complaint and has been replaced in the selected squad by defender Tom Clurey.

Mitch Georgiades, Jase Burgoyne, Dylan Williams and Jordon Sweet initially came into the squad with Jed McEntee (concussion) out of the side to take on the Tigers.

EARLIER

Richmond will be without midfielder Jacob Hopper and defender Nathan Broad for Sunday’s clash with Port Adelaide.

The Tigers have confirmed that Hopper will miss the Power meeting with a knee issue. Also out of the selected side is Broad who has calf soreness.

Replacing the pair in the 26-man squad is Hugo Ralphsmith and James Trezise.

The club has also announced that SSP recruit Mykelti Lefau will make his AFL debut just 34 days after being added to the senior list.

Hopper’s absence leaves Adem Yze’s side short in the midfield after Dion Prestia was hit with a 8 to 10-week hamstring.

Broad’s injury compounds the defence after Tylar Young (concussion) and Josh Gibcus (ACL) also came out of the side that lost to Carlton last weekend.

Tom Brown, Ben Miller, Sam Banks, Mykelti Lefau, Judson Clarke and Samson Ryan were all named in the initial squad for the Round 2 fixture.

The 0-2 Tigers, in search of their first win under Yze, clash with the 1-0 Power at the MCG from 4pm AEDT on Sunday.
