Fremantle extends Longmuir by one year on the eve of 2024 season

2024-03-14T17:11+11:00

Fremantle has signed coach Justin Longmuir to a one-year contract extension.

The Dockers coach was set to come out of contract at the end of 2024, putting him in the hot seat for the year to come.

However, they have made the call to recommit to him for a further 12 months, likely to take some spotlight off of him.

Longmuir has helmed Freo since 2020, leading them to a finals victory in 2022. The Dockers fell away in 2023 however, with questions surrounding their list management and general game-plan.

Fremantle CEO Simon Garlick told the club's website they have full faith in the coach.

"We believe in what we are building here at the Fremantle Dockers," Garlick said.
"Justin embodies the coaching excellence and vision that aligns with our ambitions.

“He has an incredible handle on the game and is passionate about teaching it in a way that resonates with and is impactful to his players.

“We strongly believe in the program that Justin, our playing group and overall football department are embedding and driving, and the decision to extend his contract is aligned with what we believe we can achieve in the coming years and beyond.”
