Port Adelaide has ruled out key forward Ollie Lord from the start of the AFL season after a training incident earlier on Saturday.
There’s no time frame on the 22-year-old after scans revealed high-grade bone bruising in his knee, as well as an impact fracture in his tibia.
He’ll see a specialist in the coming days.
Lord cemented his place in Ken Hinkley’s best side throughout 2023, finally breaking into the senior side after being drafted back in 2020.
He kicked 15 goals in 13 AFL appearances last year.
The Power will hope Lord’s impact doesn’t have a severe impact on the best 22 given their depth of key forwards. Lord, Charlie Dixon, Todd Marshall and Mitch Georgiades are all fighting for spots in Hinkley’s 2024 side, with all unlikely to be able to feature in the same team.
