The Aussie players who have graduated from the Under 19s to the national side since 2010

2024-02-13T12:00+11:00

Australia claimed their fourth Under 19 men’s ODI World Cup on Sunday with a 79-run win over India in South Africa.

The tournament began in 1988 and has run every two years since 2000, helping cultivate some of the best senior cricketers in modern history.

Many Aussie stars cut their teeth in the Under 19s before graduating to the senior ranks, and we’ve analysed how many current-day stars emerged from these squads.

While the likes of Usman Khawaja (2006), Steve Smith (2008) and Marcus Stoinis (2008) also featured in iterations of the tournament, we’ve only gone back to 2010 with most players in those classes now retired from the professional game.

Looking at squads from 2010 and 2012, those players are now in their primes in their late 20s and early 30s.

From those 15-man squads, five from each tournament went on to represent Australia.

Since then, we’ve seen those numbers drop slightly, but those players have time on their side to eventually earn senior debuts as they now find themselves in their 20s.

Check out senior graduates from Australia’s historical Under-19 World Cup squads below!
