Captain Sobey stars as Bullets end losing streak with upset win over Phoenix

2023-12-31T10:54+11:00

The Brisbane Bullets have claimed their first victory since the start of December after defeating the South East Melbourne Phoenix 95-83.

Brisbane, who were on a four-game losing streak, have kept their playoff hopes alive after finishing off 2023 with a win.

From the get-go, the Bullets were in control of the match as they lead by 15 points at half time.

And despite winning the third quarter by 10 points which piled the pressure on the out of form Bullets, the Phoenix couldn’t complete the comeback as they suffered their fourth loss from their past five games.

Bullets captain Nathan Sobey was the star of the show, as he racked up a game high 35 points to help snap his sides losing streak.

Scoring was an issue for all Phoenix players, as no player was able to record more than 14 points. Additionally, the Phoenix’s field goal percentage ended up being 12.5% worse than the Bullets, who shot 50.7% from the field on the night.

The Bullets will look to gain another victory when they play against the Sydney Kings in their next match on Sunday.

Whereas for the Phoenix, they’ll look to rectify their disappointing performance when they take on the Illawarra Hawks in their next match on Friday.
