Maxwell shines the brightest as the Stars claim their second consecutive win over the Hurricanes
After a tough start to their BBL|13 campaign, the Melbourne Stars have struck some form after defeating the Hobart Hurricanes by seven wickets via the DLS method on Thursday.
Just as the Hurricanes finished their batting innings, the rain started to fall in Hobart and nearly prevented the Stars the opportunity to chase a very gettable score of 156 runs.
However, with the DLS method in place, 67 runs off 39 of a possible 42 balls was enough for the Stars to record their second win of the tournament.
Glenn Maxwell was the star of the show for Melbourne, as he produced an exceptional all-round performance with both the bat and ball.
A significant knock of 35 not out off 18 balls, with the addition of collecting three wickets for 29 runs, helped steer his side to their second consecutive victory.
Caleb Jewell was a shining light for the Hurricanes with the bat, as he came up just short of a half century with a knock off 45 runs off 37 balls.
The Stars will look to extend their winning streak when they travel to take on the Adelaide Strikers in their next match on Sunday.
Whereas for the Hurricanes, a New Year’s day match against the Sydney Thunder at home will be their next opportunity to gain their second win of the tournament.
