Brisbane’s losing streak extends to four as the Breakers edge closer to the top six

2023-12-28T10:13+11:00

The New Zealand Breakers have picked up their third win a row thanks to a ten-point victory over a struggling Brisbane Bullets side.

Despite leading at quarter time and holding a one-point lead with only four minutes remaining in the game, the Bullets couldn’t get over the line as they slumped to their fourth loss in a row.

Anthony Lamb (18 points and 13 rebounds) was outstanding for the Breakers and continued to lead the way for the Kiwi side who are now within one game of the top six.

He was helped by the impressive defence of the Breakers, who were able to force 15 turnovers for the game, nine of them coming via the way of steals.

Breakers captain Thomas Abercrombie (four steals) was the major disrupter on the defensive side of the ball, which went a long way in helping his side maintain control of the round 12 contest.

Nathan Sobey (16 points and four assists) was brave in the Bullets defeat, despite committing a costly game high five turnovers for the evening.

The Breakers will look to continue their winning ways when they take on the JackJumpers in Hobart on Monday.

As for the Bullets, they’ll look to try and snap their losing streak when they take on the South East Melbourne Phoenix at home on Saturday.
