Gaze hopes some NBL clubs take note of Kerr's NBA noise rant

Australian basketball great Andrew Gaze says he hopes some NBL clubs were paying attention to Steve Kerr’s rant following the Golden State Warriors’ loss on Thursday.

Kerr’s men went down by eight points to the Suns and speaking in his post-match press conference, the coach expressed his disaffection for the atmosphere inside Footprint Center in Phoenix.

“When a team competes together. It’s communication. It’s playing with force; it’s playing downhill. Playing with communication, you can hear everybody talking defensively. Although, in this building, you can’t hear anything. It’s like a club. It’s like a South Beach club out there. What are we doing? I’m being dead serious. I couldn’t hear anything out there. It’s just the whole game, there’s just this thumping techno club music,” he told reporters.

Kerr added on Saturday: “We’ve just completely gone away from basketball, we are just now a circus. That’s how it felt.”

Speaking on SEN’s The Run Home, Gaze suggested it was a problem beginning to creep into the NBL in supporting Kerr’s stance.

“I’m old but I am a little more advanced when it comes to the in game entertainment, the requirement for that,” he began.

“In the basketball environment, when it’s done properly, it really does enhance it.

“But that message Steve Kerr has sent, I just hope that there are a couple – not all of them – but a couple of NBL teams that might take note.

“You don’t need it all the time… let the game speak for itself.”
