Alfa Romeo driver Valtteri Bottas has openly stated his ambition to stay aligned with the Sauber-backed team until 2026 when the team is officially taken over by Audi.
Bottas has been on a disappointing run with the Italian outfit since joining from Mercedes in 2021, managing just 59 points from 40 races across two seasons.
The 34-year-old is currently contracted to Alfa Romeo until the end of the 2024 season and will be entering his 14th season in Formula One if he is given the chance to remain with the team until 2026.
Despite this, Bottas told SEN his long-term goals remain firmly on working with the German manufacturer as they prepare to take over the famous brand.
“The future for this team is really interesting,” Bottas told SEN’s Grid Walk.
“There’s a clear plan, Audi is officially coming in ’26 but obviously starting to support before that.
“From my side, at the moment I’m signed until the end of next year, but I’d be really keen to be a part of that project.”
Bottas boasts one of the most impressive driver records on the grid, with 67 podiums and 10 wins from his 227 starts in his career.
“I think it’s interesting and a big opportunity for me as well,” Bottas added.
“Again, to be part of a manufacturer and that will hopefully mean podiums and wins eventually.”
