SENTrack form analyst Dean Watling believes Mr Brightside should be second favourite in this year's Cox Plate.
Mr Brightside had recently been looking at six consecutive wins after being defeated last start by Fangirl in a slowly run King Charles over the mile.
The Cox Plate market has Mr Brightside at $8.00 with Sportsbet but Watling believes his odds are far too generous.
“He is deadest at ludicrous odds here, he should be second favourite,” he told SENTrack’s Giddy Up.
Despite facing defeat last start Watling believes he might be searching for the 2000m distance given her last 200m was her quickest split in the race with the tactics of Saturday’s Cox Plate also likely to favour the six-year-old.
“He is going to get the run of the race on the leaders back, I think he’s massive odds here and I don’t know how Alligator Blood is in front of him,” he added.
“He ran the second fastest last 600m of the Cox Plate last year, he’s going better than ever and his last start run is a total forgive.
“I think you’ve got to have a bet on him here at the price.”
Watling has still tipped favourite Romantic Warrior with Mr Brightside his second selection for the Cox Plate.
Romantic Warrior currently stands at $3.90 via Sportsbet and Alligator Blood at $6.00 with Mr Brightside sitting on the third line of betting with Gold Trip and Fan Girl.
