Brownlow Medallist names his top AFL wingers of 2023

2023-10-17T11:29+11:00

Adam Cooney has named his top wingers across the 2023 AFL season.

The 2008 Brownlow Medallist was only interested in selecting ‘pure’ wingmen who spend the majority of their time out on the wing.

“These are pure wingers,” Cooney said on AFL Trade Radio’s Trade Mornings.

“Brad Hill played at half-back a bit this year, so no.

“Mason Wood is another contender. Nic Martin is another contender.

“Hugh McCluggage not a pure winger now, but was pure.”

Cooney named his Top 4 while opening the fifth position for the listeners to vote on.

5 - Nic Martin (Essendon)

“Nic Martin was getting some love and it looks like he is going to slide into our number 5 spot.”

4 - Steele Sidebottom (Collingwood)

“Still getting it done, year after year after year.

“It culminated in a pretty impressive performance in the Grand Final.”

3 - Blake Acres (Carlton)

“He had a super year.”

2 - Josh Daicos (Collingwood)

“Number 2 is Josh.”

1 - Errol Gulden (Sydney)

“Number 1 is Errol.”
