Essendon has expressed interest in Port Adelaide's Xavier Duursma.
Though discussions are preliminary, the Bombers have floated Duursma's name as part of a trade which would see Brandon Zerk-Thatcher join Port.
Duursma is contracted until the end of 2024 but is no certainty to remain at Alberton.
Power football boss Chris Davies did not shut the possibility of the 2018 draftee leaving when quizzed on Thursday morning.
"That's an interesting one," Davis told AFL Trade Radio.
"What we've never done historically is stand in the way of someone whose best footy might be played somewhere else, if they had real reasons to do that.
"He was in a situation where he was in our team all last year, disappointed with his form and we hoped for him to be better.
PORT COMMENT ON DUURSMA’S FUTURE AS TRADE POTENTIALLY “IN PLAY” FOR VICTORIAN CLUBS
"He had some injury issues over time. I don't think there is any real reason for Xavier to leave the club, but equally if he came to us and said he wanted to, then I guess we have some decisions to make.
"But right now I think it's more likely than not he's at Port Adelaide next year."
Duursma was drafted out of the Gippsland Power with Pick 18 back in 2018. He has played 73 games for Port.
