Retired Kangaroo Ziebell coward punched in unprovoked attack

2023-08-20T09:30+10:00

SEN’s Tom Morris is reporting that retired North Melbourne great Jack Ziebell was coward punched in an incident last night.

Morris says the incident occurred outside The Osborne Bar in South Yarra.

Ziebell was hit in an unprovoked attack and is now in hospital where he’ll likely need face surgery.

The 32-year-old played his last game for the Kangaroos in Saturday’s loss to the Tigers.

He played 280 games for the club having originally made his debut in 2009.

Victoria Police have released a statement where they stated that Ziebell was pushed onto the road by the offender - who was in the company of two other men - before he was punched in the face and kicked when he fell to the ground.

An eyewitness account backed up the Police's statement, with Morris stating that Ziebell was knocked out in the unprovoked attack.
