Multiple Group 1 winning sprinter Artorius has been retired to stud.
Following his brave fourth placing in last Saturday’s Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot, connections made the decision to retire the colt to Newgate Farm.
Trainers Anthony and Sam Freedman said it’s the “end of an era” as they say goodbye to one of their best.
Artorius rose to stardom in 2021, taking out the prestigious two-year-old Group 1, the Blue Diamond Stakes, in miraculous fashion.
A colt that was a source of frustration for punters during his career, you could never deny his star factor and that was on show in the spring when he took out the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes under the urgings of superstar jockey Zac Purton.
From his 16 career starts, Artorius amassed $2,116,462 in prize money.
