Postecoglou claims more silverware as Celtic defeat Rangers in Scottish League Cup final

2023-02-27T10:28+11:00

Ange Postecoglou has guided Celtic to another piece of silverware with the Glasgow side beating bitter rivals Rangers 2-1 in the Scottish League Cup final on Monday morning (AEDT).

Japanese international Kyogo Furuhashi was the hero with a brace of goals with Rangers only putting the ball in the back of the net once thanks to Alfredo Morelos.

Having enjoyed a dominant season that’s seen the side lose just one game combined in the Premiership, Cup and League Cup, Postecoglou was glad to see his side rewarded for their hard work.

“We’ve worked awfully hard for a very long time and part of the process of working hard is to get rewarded for it at some point so that you can keep working hard, and the boys got the reward today, which I thought was well-deserved for them,” Postecoglou said post-match.

“You know what it means for our supporters, so it was a great day for the football club.”

Celtic are still well and truly in the running to claim a domestic treble as they lead the Scottish Premiership by nine points as well as still being alive in the Scottish Cup.

The trophy was Postecoglou’s third in charge of Celtic after winning both the Scottish Premiership and League Cup last season.
