The Perth Scorchers have once again proved they are the standard setters in the Big Bash after advancing to a seventh final in just 12 seasons.
The Scorchers hosted fellow Big Bash giants the Sydney Sixers on Saturday night, with a spot in the final up for grabs.
Perth comfortably chased down a total of 151, with Cameron Bancroft and Ashton Turner starring for the hosts with 53 and 84 runs respectively.
The reigning Big Bash champions have battled plenty of adversity this season after losing international stars Phil Salt, Laurie Evans and Tymal Mills, along with Mitch Marsh before the tournament had begun.
Scorchers coach Adam Voges marvelled at the squad’s depth, saying ther pride in each other helped them to survive without their international recruits to find themselves one game away from another BBL title.
“I think proud’s a really good word. You lose your three international players you pick up in the draft, you lose Mitch Marsh on the eve of the tournament and to be honest going in, (I) probably wasn’t entirely sure how we’d go,” he said to Fox Sports post-match.
“We’ve had guys step up, guys contribute in different games, we’ve seen the emergence of Aaron Hardie, we’ve seen Cam Bancroft and what he’s done.
“We’ve always prided ourselves on our depth in this squad and we’ve certainly had to utilize it.
“The guys have found a way which is fantastic.”
The Scorchers will now enjoy an extended break as they await the winner of the Sixers and Renegades/Heat to find out who will face them in the Big Bash final in Perth.
