Pat Cummins has been ruled out of the second Test against the West Indies starting on Thursday in Adelaide.
Victorian quick Scott Boland will replace Cummins after it was confirmed that the Australian skipper had not recovered from a quad strain that he suffered in the opening test in Perth.
Boland, a cult hero amongst cricketing fans, returns to the side after taking 18 wickets at an average of 9.55 during last year's Ashes.
"Team medical staff commenced Cummins' recovery in Adelaide but selectors deemed there was not sufficient time for the fast bowler to be fully fit for the match," Cricket Australia said in a statement.
Steve Smith will captain the side.
