Chris Waller has claimed another feature race, this time in the 2500m Group 1 Victoria Derby with colt Manzoice.
The feature race on Saturday’s card that features three Group 1s, Manzoice - a $19 roughie - triumphed courtesy of a patient ride from hoop Michael Dee, going on to score by half a length.

Superstar jockey James McDonald – who’d already ridden four winners on the day, including In Secret in the three-year-old Coolmore Stud Stakes – rode second-placed Sharp ‘N’ Smart after being claimed late up the Flemington straight.
Aberfeldie Boy at $81 charged into third for Ben Melham.

But honours were with the winner, who sat out the back early but came hard with a swooping ride, putting the writing on the wall early up the straight.
Dee teamed up with the Waller stable a fortnight ago to take out the Caulfield Cup with Durston at similar odds.
Earlier in the day, McDonald produced a perfect ride to navigate In Secret out of trouble and to a convincing win in the first Group 1 of the day up the 1200m Flemington straight.

It continued a fairytale run for Godolphin and head trainer James Cummings, who last week claimed the Cox Plate with Anamoe, again teaming up with McDonald.
The third Group 1 at HQ was the Empire Rose Stakes (1400m) for Mares, a race taken out by Icebath for Brad Widdup under Craig Williams.

Meanwhile in Sydney, it was a Victorian trainer who claimed the $10 million Golden Eagle with a Kiwi horse.
