Geelong track manager Jimmy Dalton is pleased with the current state of the track before Wednesday's Geelong Cup meeting.
Speaking this morning, the man tasked to prepare the track for today’s Group 3 mentioned that the recent weather has helped the track stay in good order.
“We’ve been really fortunate with the weather to have 53 millimetres over the last 7 days and then this beautiful drying weather,” Dalton told SEN Track's Giddy Up.
“We’ve come into a good 4 track, the going stick is 9.4 with the sheer rating of 11.2, the rail is back into true and everything is set up for a cracking day.
“The temperature yesterday peaked at about 5 pm so it’s just slowly going to warm up so we’ve been blessed.”
Dalton also provided his tip to take out the Group 3, opting for the Kris Lees- trained horse Luncies.
“I saw Luncies run in the Turnbull and thought it had a bit of merit,” he said.
Luncies, to be ridden Damain Lane, is currently rated a $10 chance with Sportsbet in the 2400m feature.
Surefire, for Chris Waller, is the current $4 favourite in the feature.
