After weeks of public battles between the Manly board and Des Hasler, the Sea Eagles board have now reportedly terminated the coach’s contract for 2023.

Hasler had one year left on his deal at what is believed to be around one million dollars for 2023.

According to The Daily Telegraph’s Michael Carayannis, Hasler’s manager was informed of the decision by the Manly board on Thursday morning.

The Manly board had reportedly offered Hasler the opportunity to coach in 2023, under strict conditions which included having Anthony Seibold as the head assistant, with an aim for him to take over in 2024.

As early as Wednesday morning, Hasler had reportedly accepted these terms and was preparing to start preseason training with the Sea Eagles on November 1.

Anthony Seibold is now tipped be named as the new coach for Manly, with a deal running until 2024 for the former Broncos coach.

Hasler had a storied career for Manly as a player, featuring in 256 games for the club and scoring 72 tries.

He was also one of the most successful coaches in Sea Eagles history, leading them to two NRL Premierships during an eight-year stint, before departing for the Bulldogs in 2012.

The 61-year-old returned as coach in 2019 and led the side to a top-four finish in 2021, whilst developing an exciting group of local juniors.
