Jack Gunston’s move to Brisbane is official as of Tuesday morning.
Paperwork was completed for the 30-year-old to move north after 11:00am AEDT, with Hawthorn receiving pick 48 and a future fourth round pick in return.
The Lions wanted to trade for Gunston – a free agent – to preserve their compensation for Dan McStay’s departure.
Gunston played 211 games, booted 410 goals and won three premierships during his time in the brown and gold.
He was drafted by Adelaide in 2009 and played 14 games for the Crows, before joining the Hawks prior to the 2012 season.
In a club statement, Brisbane list manager Dom Ambrogio believes Gunston will add to the club in many different ways.

“It’s great to have Jack joining us and we see him as someone who will add a lot to our list,” Ambrogio said.
“Not only does he bring in premiership experience, but he also adds value in many other ways including his leadership.
“Jack is also a well-respected and admired person who we believe is a great fit for not only our team on the field but our Club.”
Brisbane is also looking to ensure the trade for Bulldog Josh Dunkley goes through while gaining adequate draft capital for father-sons Will Ashcroft and Jaspa Fletcher.
