GWS assistant Mark McVeigh will depart the Giants just over a month after missing out on the club’s senior coaching job.
McVeigh was the Giants’ interim coach when Leon Cameron stepped away earlier this year and led the club from Round 10 onwards.
He also threw his hat in the ring to be Cameron’s permanent replacement but was ultimately beaten by former Richmond assistant Adam Kingsley in August.
Senior Assistant Coach Mark McVeigh has chosen to step away from the club after nine years at the GIANTS. We thank Mark for his significant contribution to the club and wish him well with his next chapter 🧡 #BigBigSound

Now, after nine years at GWS, the former Bomber will depart the club.
There's no suggestion from the Giants that missing out on the head coaching gig played a role in McVeigh's departure.
In a club statement, GWS head of football Jason McCartney said: “Mark has been a wonderful coach at our football club over a long period of time.
“He’s a person of great honesty and integrity and while we would have loved him to stay, the time is right for him to move on.
“We congratulate him on everything he has achieved so far in his coaching career and wish Mark and his family all the best for the future. He’ll always be part of building the GIANTS.”
McVeigh’s next move has not been confirmed.
