West Coast veteran Jack Redden has announced his retirement from the AFL.
It’s understood the 31-year-old had triggered a contract for 2023 and Seven’s Ryan Daniel reports West Coast was keen on him to go around again.
But Redden has called time after 263 games, 134 with the Eagles after joining from Brisbane in 2016.

In West Coast’s statement, the club says “his retirement surprised most at the club”, but Redden says now is the time to bow out.
“I thought about it for a few weeks after the season and it just feels like it is the right time, both personally and for the club which is going through a rebuild,” the tough midfielder said.
“I have learnt so much and developed both as a player and as a person in the last seven years. I have enjoyed every minute of it, especially playing in front of our home fans at Optus Stadium.”
Coach Adam Simpson said: “From the first day he set foot in the club Reddo impressed with his professionalism and attitude.
“He is highly respected right across the club and was obviously instrumental in the 2018 premiership.
“He has strong values that align with his work ethic and we are certainly going to miss him. His influence both on and off the field has been profound.”
Redden played 21 games in 2022 to average 21.7 disposals per game.
