Jordan De Goey has rejected Collingwood’s latest contract offer due to the behavioural clauses included, reports The Age’s Michael Gleeson.
De Goey’s future has been under the microscope since an off-field indiscretion in Bali saw the Magpies take their contract offer off the table mid-season.
The 26-year-old enjoyed a blistering finals campaign and reportedly told Craig McRae and Collingwood football manager Graham Wright that he wanted to stay at the club.
But despite agreeing to some extra clauses, Gleeson reports De Goey believes Collingwood’s clauses are “too broad and arbitrary”.
De Goey is currently out of contract and a restricted free agent and has attracted interest from St Kilda this year.
It’s understood that Collingwood’s current offer to De Goey is a five-year one and a club source told Gleeson the Magpies are still hopeful a deal will be reached.
The dynamic midfielder played 16 games in 2022, with his best two coming in Collingwood’s first two finals against Geelong and Fremantle.
