Saturday’s AFL Grand Final between Geelong and Sydney was a ratings bomb for Channel 7.
With just 2.179 million tuning in across metro markets, it’s officially the lowest rating decider of all time.

The 2021 Grand Final, which was played at primetime between Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs, pulled in 3.006 million viewers, while the 2020 Grand Final raked in 2.979 million.
The last time the game was played at the traditional 2:30 pm slot similar ratings were achieved, with 2.197 million metro viewers tuning in to see Richmond dismantle GWS.
The NRL preliminary final between Penrith and South Sydney raked in 414,000 viewers in Sydney compared to the 375,000 that tuned into the AFL decider.
