Stephen Silvagni says veteran Hawk Tom Mitchell isn’t worth more than a second round draft pick.
Mitchell, who remains contracted for 2023, has been linked to a move with Collingwood as Hawthorn looks to refresh their list ahead of Sam Mitchell’s second year as coach.
Hawthorn has shopped around several of their veteran players in recent years, most notably Luke Breust who opted against going to GWS during last year’s trade period and then penned a new deal.
When asked to assess Mitchell’s value ahead of the trade period, the former Carlton and GWS list boss said he wasn’t worth more than a second-round pick.
“Sam Mitchell pretty much put a few of those older guys on the trade table and it was all up front so it wouldn’t surprise me if he does leave,” he said on AFL Trade Radio.
“What is he worth? He still has a year left on his contract so you’re probably looking at a pick in the second round.
“I wouldn’t have thought he was worth any more than that.”
