Collingwood’s Brodie Grundy is firming to join the Melbourne Football Club, reports SEN’s Sam Edmund.
Grundy, 28, signed a lucrative seven-year deal with the Magpies in early 2020 but is reportedly being shopped around by the club, such has been the rise of ruck duo Darcy Cameron and Mason Cox.
Peter Ryan from The Age reported on Tuesday morning that premiership Demon Luke Jackson will request a trade home to Perth to join Fremantle during his exit meeting with Melbourne on Tuesday, making Grundy a perfect replacement for the Dees.
“The anticipation and expectation is that Luke Jackson will use his exit meeting to request a trade from Melbourne to Fremantle,” Edmund said on SEN’s Whateley.
“He’s been going to Fremantle since forever, let’s be honest. There had been a glimmer, a flicker, a murmur of hope out of Melbourne that perhaps they were going to get to keep their man after all.
“But that won’t be the case. This (potential Jackson trade) will act as a domino for a range of movement.
“Brodie Grundy to Melbourne is almost a certainty now.”
Grundy hasn’t played at AFL level since Round 6 after initially suffering a knee injury and then a subsequent stress fracture in his ankle.
