Australian Daniel Ricciardo will leave McLaren at the end of the 2022 Formula 1 season.
Ricciardo and McLaren mutually agreed to part ways with still a year to run on a three-year contract.
The 33-year-old, who joined McLaren ahead of the 2021 season, sits 12th in the Drivers’ Championship at the midway point of the season, 57 points behind teammate Lando Norris.
Ricciardo did, however, deliver McLaren their first victory since 2012 when saluting at last year’s Italian Grand Prix in Monza.

In a video message on social media, Ricciardo said: “I wanted to share some news. It’s not great. It’s bittersweet for sure, but I think it's best you hear it from me.
“2022 will be my last year at McLaren.
“We put in a lot of effort on both sides, but it just hasn’t worked the way we wanted so the team has decided to make a change for next year.
“We had a lot of discussions, but in the end, we mutually agreed that it was the right thing for both of us.
“From a results point of view, to consistently get the results and that form that I was after, it wasn't always there, and it made some weekends tough. I felt those.
“But I also have many happy memories of my time at the team.
“I think about Monza, I think about standing on the top step, I think about bringing the team their first win since 2012, that sort of stuff was awesome.”

Ricciardo is keen to continue his F1 career at another team in 2023.
“The sport, I still love it,” the an eight-time Grand Prix winner said.
“I still have that fire in me, that belief in my belly that I can do this at the highest level. All that stuff is still there.
“This isn’t it for me, but we’ll see what lies ahead.”
Fellow Aussie Oscar Piastri has been heavily linked to McLaren after announcing that he will not be driving for Alpine next year.
