With Port Adelaide champion Robbie Gray hanging up the boots following this weekend’s Showdown, the question has been raised as to whether he is their greatest player of the AFL era.
Gray will finish on 271 games, having kicked 365 goals across his incredible career.
He belongs on the top tier of Power players, alongside Warren Tredrea, Travis Boak, Gavin Wanganeen and the Burgoyne and Cornes brothers.
Kane Cornes loves the debate and is currently leaning towards Tredrea.
“There is just no right answer,” Cornes told 1629 SEN SA.
“I’ve got it as Tredrea and I’ve got Robbie Gray second just because of that four to five year period that Tredrea was All-Australian centre half forward.
“It was incredible and maybe he was the top player in the game at that stage.
“It’s a fun debate.”
Tredrea played 255 games for the Power, captained the club and kicked 549 goals across his career.
SEN SA co-host Andrew Hayes leans towards Gray as the side’s greatest player.
“I genuinely think, and just going around the newsroom, it was split 50-50. I’m still saying Robbie Gray,” Hayes said.
“But it’s absolutely a flip of the coin.”
