Corey Norman facing lengthy ban for inappropriate contact in Super League

2022-08-16T12:30+10:00

Former NRL player Corey Norman has landed himself in hot water in the Super League for allegedly attempting to stick his finger up the posterior of an opposition player.

Norman played 228 games for the Brisbane Broncos, Parramatta Eels and St George Illawarra Dragons before joining French side Toulouse for the 2022 season.

Norman has been slapped with a Grade F charge which is the most severe charge and carries a suspension for as long as eight weeks.

“The Toulouse halfback was put on report for the incident involving Warrington’s Oliver Holmes following the 32-18 defeat,” Andrew Voss said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“It starts as an eight-match ban and is open-ended for what is termed ‘other contrary behaviour’ and inappropriate contact.

“He was caught on camera reaching between Oliver Holmes’ legs following a challenge.

“Kenny Edwards got a 10-game suspension for doing it on Sam Kasiano.

“His team is coming last. It’s rugby league areas all over again.”

The most famous player involved in an incident of this nature was John Hopoate who was banned for 12 weeks in 2001 when he was playing for the Wests Tigers.

SEN’s Greg Alexander was left dumbfounded by the reports and couldn’t comprehend why a player would use it as a tactic.

“It’s a breaking news story,” Alexander said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“Why would he do something like this?

“How could he possibly do something like this?

“It’s such a rugby league story.”

Norman has been placed on report and will front the judiciary to plead his case. If he is unsuccessful, the 31-year-old marquee recruit will miss the remainder of the season.

Toulouse currently sit last on the Super League and are at serious risk of being relegated to the second division with only four matches remaining in the season.
