St Kilda coach Brett Ratten remains steadfast that Max King doesn’t need any external help to aid his goalkicking woes.
King kicked five behinds in St Kilda's loss to Brisbane on Friday night, a result that all but ends their finals hopes this season.
Essendon great Matthew Lloyd put his hand up to help King last year, before the Saints blocked the move in favour of keeping all coaching in-house.
Lloyd previously coached King at Haileybury College and has served as a mentor for the young forward as he continues to develop at AFL level.
Asked post-match whether the club would welcome any external help, Ratten said the club employs enough people already to help improve the “closed skill” of goal kicking.
“He won’t be seeing anyone outside the club, he doesn’t need to,” Ratten said post-match.
“We’ve got people with the skillset to keep working there. It’s not just all about the technical aspect, there’s a mental aspect as well.
“With goalkicking, it’s a closed skill and there’s different elements to it. It’s not just we bring someone in and they fix up the ball drop or something like that.
“He hasn’t got many flaws, but sometimes it can go against him.
St Kilda will have to beat Sydney in the final round of the season and hope several other results go their way in order to play finals this year.
