Port Adelaide fell short in Round 17 of the SANFL as Sturt recorded a 31-point victory.
Mitch Georgiades, who was axed after a poor AFL game last week, finish with two goals from four shots.
Curiously, the Power kept Georgiades at VFL level despite fellow tall forward Todd Marshall going out of the senior side due to the league’s health and safety protocols, highlighting the club’s keenness to give him a good run for the reserves.
He was joined by other familiar names Orazio Fantasia (one goal, 10 disposals) and Martin Frederick (19 disposals, five marks) among others.
Despite winning the clearance and inside 50 battle, Port were out-possessed and couldn’t clear their defensive 50 often enough in the defeat.
Abe Davis and Tom Emmett were influential for Sturt with three goals each, while Sam Breuer and Malachy Carruthers both had six inside 50s in the win.
Sturt locked in its spot in the top five for another week courtesy of the win, while Port Adelaide remains ninth.
