In Round 15, Wests Tigers forward Alex Twal suffered a concussion in the opening minutes of the game and subsequently the Tigers ruled him out for the remainder of the season.
Though Twal has a limited concussion history, he is content with the decision the club and its medical staff have reached to rule him out for the rest of the season.
“I think it was a bit of a mutual decision between the club and the medical staff,” said Twal on SEN 1170 Breakfast.
“The club and the medical staff thought it was in my best interest to probably take the next 8 weeks or whatever it was and focus on 2023.”
Alex did note that he had limited post concussion issues and symptoms from the incident in round 15 but was in full support of the club's decision.
“I am very grateful for the club for doing that, in the sense, you hear about alot of players being pushed to play under certain circumstances and what not,” he said.
“I thought the club had my best interest in these circumstances and now it’s up to me to repay them in 2023 and going forward.”
Twal is eligible to play for Lebanon at the end of the year in the Rugby League World Cup and says that he hasn’t been ruled out yet to play at the end of the year, but his focus is predominantly with the club.
“I haven’t been ruled out but at the same time I have to honour my club first and foremost,” he said.
"2023 is going to be a big year for the Tigers with Tim Sheens, Benji Marshall and Robbie Farah coming in, and my focus is putting my best foot forward for the club.”
