Parramatta is set to make Mitchell Moses an Eel for life after offering the halfback a new contract extension.
According to reports, the Eels have tabled Moses an extension on his deal which would see him remain at Kellyville until the end of the 2027 season.
SEN’s Michelle Bishop says that the figure attached to Moses’ new deal is worth $1 million a season across the next five years.
“He turns 28 in September,” Bishop said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.
“He’s under contract for 2023 and looks set to pick up an option in his favour for 2024, but negotiations are underway for a new deal.
“It’d make him an Eel for life, taking him through until the end of 2027, which would just about be the rest of his career as he’d be 33 (by the end of the deal).
“Reports are floating around that the deal is worth around $5 million this deal, that’s $1 million a year all up.
“I know he bought a family house in the inner west, he obviously doesn’t want to move, he’s pretty happy.
“I can definitely see him becoming an Eel for life.”
SEN’s Andrew Voss believes Moses is worth the money offered to him by Parramatta due to his status as one of the best number sevens in the competition.
“He is one of the better playmakers in the competition,” Voss said.
“Look at the Dragons without Ben Hunt, it’s tragic, he may not be the best seven or six in the comp but if you take him out of the side it’s a huge difference.
“That’s the same with Mitch Moses.”
Moses has kicked 53 goals, scored five tries and notched 20 try assists from 16 NRL appearances in 2022.
