Sportsday co-host Sam McClure believes there is a “very large” chance Dustin Martin departs Richmond at the end of the season.
The three-time Norm Smith Medallist still has two years remaining on his deal, becoming an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2024 season.
But McClure reported on Monday night that Martin could look to move elsewhere at the end of the current campaign as he weighs up his immediate future.
“I think as we sit here right now there’s a very large chance Dustin Martin won’t be playing at Richmond next year,” he said on Sportsday.
“Sydney keeps getting mentioned… he’s had a love of Sydney and if he wanted to go there, they would move heaven and earth to make it happen.
“Damien Hardwick was on record not long ago saying if (Dustin Martin) wanted to go, he would go with (Hardwick’s) blessing.
“But he has two years left on his deal, so it's easier said than done.”
Martin will miss Richmond’s game against Gold Coast on Saturday after sustaining a hamstring injury in the club’s win over West Coast.
The 31-year-old has had an interrupted season so far, taking personal leave earlier in the year before missing the Round 14 win over Carlton due to illness.
