Just two games of VFL took place this Sunday with several players putting their best foot forward for an AFL recall.
The first game of the day saw the VFL re-match of yesterday's AFL blockbuster with Geelong hosting Richmond, this time at GMHBA Stadium.
The sequel was just as good as the original with the Tigers flashing home from a 27-point three-quarter-time deficit to come away 103-89 winners after an eight-goal last term.
Richmond would be pleased with their forward depth with Noah Cumberland (four goals, 15 disposals), Jason Castagna (three goals, nine tackles), Jake Aarts (two goals, 23 disposals) and Sydney Stack (one goal, 17 disposals) all having huge influences on the game.
Tyler Sonsie (22 disposals, six marks) continues to press for a debut in his first season in the AFL system, while Riley Collier-Dawkins (19 disposals, four tackles) battled hard all day.
For the Cats, Quinton Narkle (one goal, 24 disposals) was instrumental and was supported well by Oliver Dempsey (one goal, 21 disposals) and Esava Ratugolea (two goals, 15 disposals).
Cooper Stephens (one goal, 28 disposals) was impressive but left the field limping late while Francis Evans (two goals, 18 disposals) was solid after being dropped.
The win has Richmond in seventh place with a 7-5 record while Geelong slips to 13th at 6-5.
Over at Arden Street, North Melbourne took care of the Northern Bullants by 42 points.
Ruck / forward Callum Coleman-Jones made a statement in an attempt to win his way back into the senior side with one goal, 25 disposals and 26 hitouts.
He was well helped by fellow AFL-listed Roos Jack Mahoney (two goals, 21 disposals) and Charlie Lazzaro (one goal, 24 disposals) who were among the side’s best.
For the Bullants, they remain with just one win to their game, while they’ve also lost eight games in a row.
The Kangaroos now sit in 18th place with three wins to their name from 11 games.
