Saturday saw a break from Group 1 racing at Eagle Farm, shifting attention to Flemington and Randwick.
The first race on the Flemington card saw some familiar names fill the top three, with Saracen Knight taking the honours over Don’t Doubt Dory and Pesto.
Rank-outsider Grinzinger Bishop then took out race three to give Danny O’Brien his second win of the day at a whopping $71 with Sportsbet.
The Brian Beattie Handicap was run and won by Biometric ahead of Tavidance, while Michael Dee made it a running double with a win in the Sir Henry Bolte Handicap at $21.
Tuvalu and Zac Be Boss claimed the last two races of the day on a day where favourites struggled to prove their class.
Meanwhile, Randwick was dominated once again by a familiar name.
Chris Waller-trained five winners on the 10-race card, highlighted by Skyman securing the listed McKell Cup.
Next weekend sees Eagle Farm host its last Group 1 of the Winter Carnival with the $700,000 Tattersalls Tiara, the last feature race in Australia until the Spring Carnival.
