The Golden State Warriors have won the 2021/22 NBA Championship, closing out the series in Game 6 at Boston.
After a hot start by the Celtics, the Warriors took control of the game and maintained a healthy lead for the rest of the contest, with the final margin at 13 points.
The win sees Stephen Curry claim his fourth ring, but his first Finals MVP after averaging 31.2 points across the series.
The two-time MVP led the way in Game 6, pouring in 34 points, while registering seven rebounds, seven assists and two steals.
Jaylen Brown led scoring for the Celtics with 34 but his five turnovers were costly, as were Jayson Tatum’s who scored just 13 points.
The Warriors were down 2-1 against the Celtics, and were facing a 3-1 deficit when they were down by four points with five minutes remaining in Game 4.
But Curry, and his long-time teammate Klay Thompson stepped up when it mattered, evening the series with a clutch finish.
Former number one draft pick Andrew Wiggins was the hero in Game 5, leading the Warriors to a 10-point win, setting them up for a victory at Boston in Game 6.
Along with Curry, the win also sees Thompson, Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala, secure their fourth championship ring, while coach Steve Kerr can add a ninth championship to his name after winning five as a player and four as a coach.
