Gold Coast Titans forward Jaimin Jolliffe said his side’s performance against the North Queensland Cowboys was “very disappointing” as the team slumps to a 3-10 record.
The Titans looked promising in the early encounters of the match and after a wealth of possession, Toby Sexton crossed over for the opening try of the match.
As has been the case all season, lapses in defence saw the Titans go from leading by six points to trailing by 10 in the span of eight minutes.
“It was very disappointing to be honest,” Jolliffe said on SEN’s Breakfast with Pat and Heals.
“For probably 60 minutes in the game, we were in the arm wrestle.
“There were just two 10-minute periods in either half where they just got quick tries.
“It’s not due to a lack of intent, it’s just due to a lack of understanding your role and understanding the details of the game.
“If you’re not on the details every play, you can get your pants pulled down and it happened again.
“We seem to clock off for little periods and that’s when the points come rolling in.”
The Titans entered the 2022 season with a lot of optimism after making last year's final series and came within one-point of upsetting the Sydney Roosters in the elimination final.
Now amid a three-match losing streak, Jolliffe declared that he and his teammates have let coach Justin Holbrook down in the first half of the season.
“He’d be devastated because he’s working so hard for this team,” he said.
“As players, we need to take the heat off him and the coaches.
“We’ve got to be accountable for everything we do during the week leading up to games.
“It’s up to us as players who take the field to get the job done.
“There’s only one way out of it and we just have to keep working harder, keep our head’s done, keep looking at what’s going wrong and keep working at fixing it.”
The Titans will next play the South Sydney Rabbitohs on June 11 on the Gold Coast.
