Three clubs floated as the best fit for Walker if he left Crows

2022-05-31T18:00+10:00

Will Taylor Walker be at the Adelaide Crows in 2023?

Walker, the club’s all-time leading goalkicker, is awaiting a contract offer from the Crows with his current deal due to expire at the end of the season.

The veteran forward and former Crows captain wants to play on next year and his priority is to stay at West Lakes.

“Number one is, do I want to stay in Adelaide? Yes, I do,” Walker told Triple M.

“Is there a contract on the table at the moment? No, there’s not.

“Ideally you would love to get it done sooner rather than later and it’s one of those things that we will try and get done hopefully soon.”

But what if Walker decided to finish his career at another club?

SEN SA host Kym Dillon thinks three clubs could do with a forward like Walker on their list.

“I think there’s three clubs,” Dillon told SEN SA Drive.

“The Western Bulldogs would be one. They’ve got Josh Bruce coming back from a knee reconstruction, so you’re not sure how he’s going to go there.

“If he’s not there, Taylor Walker would be absolutely brilliant. It would take so much pressure off Aaron Naughton and they’re in the window.

“That’s a big tick.

“We say Gold Coast, it’s just a matter whether you think they’re in the window or not, they’re building, that might be premature.

“Would he be right for them? I think yes if they continue on this trajectory.

“Because at the moment they’ve got Levi Casboult, hasn’t got a lot of footy left in him. Mabior Chol, who is your second forward/ruckman.

“I think the other one where he would fit in perfectly, and they’re playing some footy at the moment, would be Collingwood.

“Their main forward is Brody Mihocek then you’ve got Jamie Elliott. They actually don’t have a proper focal full forward.”

Walker has kicked a team-high 18 goals in seven games this season.

The 32-year-old missed the opening four rounds of 2022 after serving a six-week ban for making a racist comment at a SANFL game last year.
