Collingwood defender Jordan Roughead has announced his retirement from football.
The 31-year-old made one senior appearance this year after battling shoulder and finger injuries.
It’s understood he notified Magpies teammates of his decision on Friday morning.

“Coming into this season I knew that it was likely to be my last,” Roughead told Collingwood’s website.
I’ve had an on-going shoulder issue for the last few years and knew at some point I would have to make a decision.
“The last month or so I have spent some time thinking about when I would make the call. This is not a decision I am making because I want to but a decision I am making for my long-term health and my family as well.”
Roughead joined the Magpies in 2018 after playing 138 games for the Western Bulldogs, winning a premiership with the Dogs in 2016.
Roughead played 63 games for Collingwood to finish on 201 AFL appearances all up.
He was selected by the Bulldogs with pick No.31 in 2008 National Draft.
