A Group 1 and three Group 2’s were hosted in South Australia and Queensland as Jye McNeil secured a treble at Caulfield on Saturday.
In Gold Coast, favourite Nettuno took out the first Group race of the day in the Ken Russell Memorial.
Prince of Boom then kept the favourites in the winning circle as he took out the Gold Coast Guineas.
However, the day was leading up to the A.D Hollindale Stakes, where Zaaki started odds on favourite with Ayrton being the main threat.
The seven-year-old champion gelding was too strong with an impressive ride from James McDonald as Polly Grey and Kukeracha fought on strongly to fill out the placings.
Melbourne Cup-winning jockey McNeil was victorious aboard Lincoln Square, Blaze A Trail and Elzamee to take out a triple, even more impressively none of those rides started as favourite in their respective races.
Morphettville continued its run in the limelight, as it played host to the sole Group 1 of the day.
Craig Williams travelled to South Australia and came home with three wins, the highlight being that of Seradess in the Group 3 Tobin Bronze Stakes ahead of favourite General Beau.
The two Group 2’s saw a duo of upsets, as the $13 and $27 chances with Sportsbet Silent Sovereign and Free Of Debt took out the Queen of the South Stake and the D.C McKay Stakes respectively.
The upsets continued into the main race of the day, the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes, where Ethan Brown steered home the Maher & Eustace mare Snapdancer at the price of $18 with Sportsbet.
Away Game, also Maher & Eustace-trained, and September Run would be pleased with their runs, taking out the minor placings in a solid showing.
Two Group 1’s will be hosted next Saturday in South Australia and Queensland as the weather starts to cool down.
