Will Carlton captain Patrick Cripps come under scrutiny for his tackle on Adelaide’s Lachlan Murphy?
The aggressive tackle incidentally saw Murphy land on his back, with the small forward subbed out of the game.
AFL journalist Mitch Cleary tweeted the incident out following Carlton’s comfortable victory, but does the Brownlow Medal favourite have anything to be concerned about?

It’s less of a driving motion than the De Goey tackle that cost him a week v Dangerfield. Danger played on, LMurphy was subbed out (neck). For context, Murphy had neck surgery on off-season 🎥 Fox Footy pic.twitter.com/vGM5EPiBUx
Carlton coach Michael Voss certainly doesn’t think so.
“You’re probably asking the wrong person, I’d be slightly biased, but geez I’d be staggered if it goes any further to be honest,” Voss said post-game.
Kane Cornes agrees, believing MRO Michael Christian won’t even mention the tackle in Sunday release.
“I can’t believe this is even an issue. It was a fair tackle. There is nothing in it. Move on,” Cornes told SEN SA Breakfast.
“It is not a talking point. The game is stuffed if he gets reported for that. He won’t.
“It won’t even be mentioned in the MRO’s report.”
Cripps dominated on Sunday afternoon, finishing with 35 disposals, two goals and 10 clearances in the 48-point win.
Former Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley added his own two cents on SEN Breakfast.
“You can’t legislate against incidental contact in the game,” Buckley added.
