Lambert back to his best as Tigers take care of Blues in VFL

2022-04-17T13:57+10:00

Richmond proved too strong for Carlton in the VFL on Sunday, running out comfortable 25-point victors at Ikon Park.

Leading from start to finish, AFL listed Tigers Jake Aarts (one goal, 30 disposals), Kane Lambert (two goals, 25 disposals), Sydney Stack (three goals, 24 disposals) and Ivan Soldo (two goals, 15 disposals, 41 hitouts) dominated to lead their side to a 97–72 win.

With the AFL side coming off a disappointing loss to Adelaide, Richmond will be thrilled that Lambert has now proved his fitness after struggling to get going in his first game back from his pre-season hip injury last week against Footscray.

Youngsters Will Martyn (24 disposals), Maurice Rioli (20 disposals), Rhyan Mansell (23 disposals) and Riley Collier-Dawkins (25 disposals) also impressed for the men in yellow and black as they push their cases for a senior call-up.

For the Blues, Jack Carroll (23 disposals) and Tom Williamson (23 disposals) were the most impressive AFL listed players as the likes of Liam Stocker (11 disposals) and Lochie O’Brien (15 disposals) struggled to get going.

VFL-listed Blues Will Hayes, Zavier Maher and Alex Cincotta can hold their heads high after solid performances.

Richmond will look to make it three VFL wins in a row when they face Casey at Punt Road Oval next Sunday, while Carlton will look to bounce back against Werribee next Saturday.
