AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan will depart the league after eight years at the helm, per The Age’s Caroline Wilson.
The report indicates he signalled his desire to leave before the pandemic, but stayed on to help put the pieces back into place following two tough years.
No clear successor to McLachlan has been worked out as yet, with the likes of Andrew Dillon, Travis Auld and Richmond CEO Brendon Gale expected to be in the running.
He will reportedly depart at the end of the 2022 season.
McLachlan and chairman Richard Goyder will hold a press conference at 11:30am AEST.
