Port Adelaide defender Aliir Aliir could be facing a stint on the sidelines with the Power reportedly fearing that he may have suffered a syndesmosis injury.
The report in the Adelaide Advertiser says the club fear that Aliir may require surgery in the wake of Saturday night's season opening loss to Brisbane.
While the 2021 All-Australian may miss significant weeks, the club is expecting better news than first feared with Trent McKenzie, with the defender likely dodging an ACL tear.
While McKenzie is due for scans in the next 24 hours, the club is hopeful that his injury concern is just a hyperextension of the knee.
Xavier Duursma is another Power player in the casualty ward, with the young midfielder experiencing serious pain on Sunday morning after copping a brutal hit to his shoulder from Lions enforcer Mitch Robinson.
Robbie Gray will also head in for scans on his knee after a first-quarter incident.
The concern for Gray is in his right knee and it’s believed a minor tweak to the medial ligament could force him to be sidelined as well.
The Power will hope to earn their first win of the season when they face the Hawks in Round 2 at the Adelaide Oval.
