Noble outlines how two North Melbourne recruits will integrate in 2022

2022-03-10T19:08+11:00

North Melbourne coach David Noble says the club’s two off-season recruits will turbocharge the club’s development phase in 2022.

The Kangaroos finished as wooden spooners last season with just four wins in Noble’s inaugural year at the helm.

In a busy off-season for the club, Hugh Greenwood shocked the footy world by walking out on Gold Coast to join the Roos, while former Crow Tom Lynch joined the club as a development coach.

Noble said that while Lynch has already recently been added to the club’s on-field list for the season, he would only feature at VFL level at this stage.

He added that Greenwood’s inclusion was already paying off, highlightedby his guidance of the club's young midfielders.

“Tom has predominantly been brought in as a development coach,” he said on Sportsday.

“We’re using this mechanism (to put him on the list) because he’s able to play in the VFL to help our younger group like (Charlie) Comben, (Jacob) Edwards, (Paul) Curtis and (Eddie) Ford to be able to play with those guys for a number of games.

“We don’t see Tom being in the AFL mix, but for the capacity for him to come out of the game and then add to that blend on the field is extremely important.

“Hugh brings a completely different element, he’s an experienced campaigner and is elite in clearances, tackles and pressure.

"His leadership has been exceptional so far and has really settled in that role, his commentary on the ground helps our younger midfield group out on the field. He’s been terrific.”

North Melbourne’s campaign will get underway with their Round 1 match at the MCG against Hawthorn on Sunday week.
