The Perth Scorchers have claimed their fourth BBL title after beating the Sydney Sixers by 79 runs at Marvel Stadium on Friday night.
Following a terrific 76* off 41 deliveries from Perth batsman Laurie Evans, the Scorchers finished the first innings with a total of 6-171 against an undermanned Sixers squad.
Heading into the clash as hot favourites, the Scorchers were in some serious trouble early, the Sixers had them 4-25 with Kurtis Patterson (1), Mitch Marsh (5), Colin Munro (1) and Josh Inglis (13) all dismissed early.
Perth’s skipper Ashton Turner (54) and Evans (76*) saved the men in orange with a terrific 104-run partnership that significantly turned the game in Perth’s favour.
In reply, the injury-ravaged Sixers were no match for the Scorchers star-studded bowling attack with last year’s champs dismissed for 92.
Veteran batsman Daniel Hughes was the best of the Sixers with 42 off 33, while Nick Bertus (15) and Jay Lenton (10*) were the only others to reach double figures.
Perth's win was the largest victory by runs in BBL final history.
Laurie Evans was named man of the match.
